Weighted Scoring

While team scores are still based only on the standard points, individual scores for division and state rankings will use a weighted scoring method this year.

The formula for the value of each problem is

equation

Here are some examples of how it works

Scenario 1

24 students on scoring teams in your division do event C and on problem 3 (which has a base score of 2). 10 students on scoring teams get it correct.   Any student (whether on scoring team or not) getting the problem correct will get   equation weighted points.

Scenario 2

24 students on scoring teams in your division do event C and on problem 2 (which has a base score of 2).   Only 3 students on scoring teams get it correct.   Any student (whether on scoring team or not) getting the problem correct will get equation weighted points.  More points because presumably harder question.
